Mixing prints is nothing new, it’s a trend that has been around forever but every now and again it gets a face lift. This year the trend has a new buzzword: ‘clashing’ which is fitting considering the many different prints that are dominating the fashion scene. Animal print has staked a claim on fall while moody florals don’t seem to be going anywhere fast. Put them together and you have two very unmatched prints that somehow work together. Say hello to clashing prints.

In past years I have talked about anchoring a mixed print look, be it by color or print style, but this year we need a different strategy. Since the intention is to have prints not match at all you can help ground the look with your accessories. A well placed bum bag or fanny pack around your waist can break up the look while a matching pair of black and while boots also keep the look from feeling haphazard. More is more with this look so don’t be afraid to also find a clashing wall to stand in front of. You might just end up feeling like a piece of art yourself. Happy print clashing!
