Print on Print on Print: Part Deaux

Clashing Prints Street Style OutfitI LOVE a good print on print combination and if you follow me on instagram I am sure you are well aware of this. The key, I seem to be finding, is that when you are comparing/contrasting prints in an outfit you need two different types of prints: the base and the accent.

For me the base repeatedly seems to be a black and white combination such as today’s skort. The accent print, the blouse, repeats the black and white also but adds in more colors as well. Something about the black & white seems to anchor a look for me and allow me to get significantly more playful with the contrasting print. Also when print mixing I like to make sure the scale of the prints are similar as well or the same size. That way regardless of how different the prints are they still seem like part of an overall theme. So the next time you start grabbing for a printed top or bottom try making one of them a black and white print, keep your prints similar sizes and try to have black and white in your second printed piece as well.
