The vest saga continues…. By know I am sure you are all familiar with my love of long vests. I find they are especially perfect this time of year when we have a few extra pounds around the rear-end area that we might like to hide with a long, chic piece of outerwear. This is where the suiting inspired long vest comes into play with its crisp tailoring and flattering shape it takes any outfit to the next level. So how do you incorporate this summer/fall favorite into your winter wardrobe? Read on.
In the summertime a long vest was our easy topper for a great dress, in the fall it was a compliment to our skinny jeans and now in the winter it’s time to introduce the vest to our sweater collection. It may not seem natural to pair a vest with a sweater but considering the temperature outside it is a necessity if you want to stay warm without a coat. Blair from Atlantic Pacific inspired me to do to this with a long vest over a turtleneck and a long skirt, talk about breaking the rules! A structured vest is preferable when you are wearing it with a sweater as you want it to feel like true outerwear instead of simply another shirt. To keep the entire look from being too casual with my cozy turtleneck I paired the vest with a matching pair of wide leg trousers to give a suit-like effect that made the look more work appropriate. Add a go-to pendant necklace, a chic pointed suede boot and you have a winter ready outfit for whatever the day may bring.
