Oh neon, how I love your highlighter bright hues. My love affair with neon started one infamous Fall/Winter season when Michael Kors famously introduced neon to his normally neutral runway. Ever since that 2009 collection sumptuous green neon knits and solid colored fur trapper hats have always been something that for me, never goes out of style. Unfortunately that’s not how trends work though so I was thrilled this season when neon for winter came back into style.
This year’s neon trend is a bit different than than my over the top favorites of the past. Rather than doing head-to-toe neon this year is more about subtlety. Neon layers and subtle details make an even more powerful statement. In today’s look I layered a neon turtleneck under another of this season’s big trends: a check suit jacket. To add a little spice to the look I layered a check coat over a check blazer keeping the rest of the look neutral which allows the neon to really pop. Lastly a pair of knockoff Chanel Boots (under $75) adds all the sass you could possibly need. Subtle neon that is perfectly on trend.
